How the METRO Score works →

Data: METRO v2.0, top 5,000 US cities, refreshed to American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates (July 2026). The METRO Score was created by Seyi Fabode.

METRO Score data © Seyi Fabode, licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0.

The METRO Score groups 15 metrics in three tiers. Source city scores are shown to two decimal places; source category labels are retained at rounding boundaries. Metric values are shown to one decimal place. Bar lengths are bounded to 0–100, while source values outside that scale remain unchanged.

A national rank counts only cities with a strictly higher displayed score; tied scores share a rank. “Better than” counts cities with a strictly lower displayed score and is shown to one decimal place.
